Liability Release & Waiver of Claims

In consideration of the services provided by Journeymen Institute, its officers, directors, staff, leaders, co-leaders, volunteers, affiliates, and all persons acting on its behalf (collectively referred to as "Journeymen"), as well as One Village LLC, its affiliate, and the venue(s) for this event (collectively referred to as "the Released Parties"), I, on behalf of myself and/or my minor Participant, voluntarily agree to release, indemnify, and hold harmless the Released Parties, including their respective employees, agents, and representatives, as follows:

  1. ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RISKS

I understand that participation in this Course/Event involves inherent risks, including but not limited to physical, emotional, and psychological challenges. These risks may include:

  • Strenuous physical activity, including outdoor and indoor games, role-playing, and exercises that may cause mental or emotional stress.

  • Potential for physical injury, including but not limited to muscle strains, fractures, scrapes, cuts, sprains, concussions, loss of limb, or in extreme cases, paralysis or death.

  • Exposure to natural elements such as uneven terrain, wildlife, inclement weather, and other environmental hazards.

  • Potential psychological impacts, including emotional distress or resurfacing of past traumas.

  • Possible errors in judgment by facilitators, leaders, or other participants.

I acknowledge that the risks listed above are not exhaustive, and unforeseen risks may exist.

  1. ASSUMPTION OF RISK & PARTICIPANT RESPONSIBILITY

I freely and voluntarily assume all risks associated with this Course/Event, whether known or unknown. I understand that participation is voluntary and that my Participant may choose to withdraw at any time.

I authorize Journeymen Institute and its agents to take reasonable actions in the event of injury or illness, including securing emergency medical care at my expense. I further certify that my Participant is physically, emotionally, and mentally capable of participating in this Course/Event.

  1. RELEASE OF LIABILITY & INDEMNIFICATION

I, on behalf of myself, my Participant, and my representatives, hereby:

  • Release and discharge Journeymen Institute, One Village LLC, Whidbey Institute, and all affiliated individuals and entities from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action arising out of or related to my Participant’s participation in the Course/Event.

  • Agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties from any claims, costs, or liabilities, including attorney fees, arising from personal injury or property damage connected to my or my Participant’s participation.

  • Acknowledge that this release is binding on myself, my heirs, assigns, agents, and estate.

  1. MEDICAL CERTIFICATION & CONSENT

I certify that the Participant has sufficient health, accident, and liability insurance to cover any injury or damage sustained while participating. If no such coverage exists, I agree to assume all financial responsibility for any resulting medical expenses. I further certify that I have disclosed all known medical, psychological, or physical conditions relevant to my Participant’s participation in the required registration forms.

  1. MEDIA RELEASE

I grant Journeymen Institute, One Village LLC, and their affiliates permission to use photographs, video footage, or audio recordings of my Participant for promotional, educational, or informational purposes without compensation or additional consideration.

  1. ACKNOWLEDGMENT & AGREEMENT

I acknowledge that I have had the opportunity to read this entire document, ask questions, and seek clarification. By signing below, I affirm that I understand and agree to all terms set forth in this Liability Release and Waiver of Claims.

ENROLLMENT & PAYMENT

Please note that submission of this form does not guarantee your participation and that we may elect to perform additional screening for the safety of all involved. Full payment, course deposit, and/or other confirmed arrangements are required to secure your spot. CANCELLATIONS

All cancellations must made by email to [email protected]

All cancellations incur a processing fee of 5%

Cancellations made more than 30 days before course begins will be refunded all fees less 5% processing fee

Cancellations made more than 14 days before course begins and/or no shows may be refunded 50% of fees paid and/or due.

Cancellations made within 14 days before the course begins and/or no shows may not be refunded.

The cancellation policy applies once you submit payment or confirm a payment arrangement.

DATE CHANGES

In the event of unforeseen circumstances or low participant numbers we reserve the right to change or cancel this course.

FINANCIAL AID & EQUITY

One Village is committed to maximizing inclusion and access for participants who are unable to afford our courses and are otherwise qualified to enroll. We achieve this by creating personalized, collaborative and feasible agreements with participants and families that ask for all parties to contribute an equitable and meaningful amount toward their Journeymen experiences. This results in increased diversity in our courses, creative partnership opportunities, sustainable sources of revenue for the organization, broader community support, and positive reinforcement of financial commitments for youth and families.
